Chapter Six
The First claims it can restore Connor and all the memories relating to him; and considering the end of the last chapter, it seems likely it does so as it confers with a Bringer. It is revealed that the First summoned forth this creature using Angel's blood. Then, he escapes as, in Connor's form, the First flickers and screams in pain, then is forced to take the form of Darla and leaves the chamber. Angel flees the Seal and aims to rejoin the others.
Buffy and her small army arrive at what is making the tremours - a wall of shadow, the same one Robin encountered. It morphs into an enormous multi-tentacled beast and battle ensues.
Gunn is knocked unconcious and Spike is exposed to the sunlight after his
coat is lost to the demon. Spike is however inside the demon's shadow and
is ultimately knocked unconcious inside a house nearby, without anyone noticing
his absence.
The battle looks grim for Buffy when Xander and the Wolfram and Hart soldiers
show up and blast the demon with grenade launchers. Buffy is nearly killed
but is saved by a balaclava-wearing soldier who takes a fatal blow in her place.
Xander and the other soldiers are knocked away and it looks grim again when
a mysterious stranger on a motorbike cleaves off the demon's tentacles one
at a time with a sword. Angel appears through a manhole and embeds it into
the demon's side. He is saved from the sunlight by having Spike's duster draped
around him and rushed into the shadow of a house.
The heavy support gets back on its feet and, accompanied with the bike rider and Willow's fireballs, the Wiccan and Giles are able to contain the demon in its shadowy form and reduce it to a small black dot.
Buffy removes the downed soldier's balaclava and can't believe her eyes, while right after Angel's friends tell him they remember about his son, the bike rider reveals himself to them as Connor.
